Lutung Kasarung
The first is the folklore of the Lutung Kasarung originating from Pasundan or the Sunda region. Tells about a king named Prabu Tapak Agung who has two daughters named Purbasari and Purbararang. The king intends to abdicate and make Purbasari the successor to the kingdom's leader. However, Purbararang was annoyed with his father's decision and intended to harm Purbasari.
Purbararang then went to the witch and cursed Purbasari so that she became ugly, her skin was covered with black spots. Purbasari was then exiled to the forest and Purbararang who became the leader of his father's successor. At one time, Purbasari was accompanied by a langur and asked Purbasari to soak in the lake, Purbasari immediately recovered and returned to being beautiful.
Purbasari also came to the kingdom and met his brother Purbararang. To determine the successor to the throne, the two of them collided, ranging from competing with long hair to competing against handsome partners. Purbasari also offered his friend's langur in the forest as a partner. Instantly the langur turned into a very handsome young man, exceeding the good looks of the Purbararang couple. Purbararang also relented and admitted his mistake. Purbasari was then appointed Queen and lived happily with her lover, Lutung Kasarung.
