Kisah Si Pitung

Selanjutnya merupakan cerita rakyat Betawi, yaitu cerita rakyat Si Pitung. Si Pitung merupakan jagoan dari Betawi yang berperan dalam melawan penindasan dari penjajah Belanda. Pitung pun bertekad untuk memperdalam ilmu agama dan ilmu persilatan. Akhirnya Si Pitung pun berguru pada Haji Naipin, hingga akhirnya Pitung menguasi segala ilmu yang diajarkan oleh Haji Naipin.

Pitung pun diberi pesan oleh Haji Naipin sebagai gurunya, untuk tidak sombong dan senantiasa menggunakan ilmu yang dikuasai untuk membela orang-orang tertindas. Jangan pernah menggunakan ilmu yang dimiliki untuk menindas orang. Dari mulai saat itu, Si Pitung pun bertekad untuk menegakkan keadilan dan menumpas kedzaliman.

Cerita Rakyat Malin Kundang

 Next is the folklore of malin kundang. The folk tale of Maling Kundang comes from Minangkabau, telling about Malin, a child who migrates from his hometown and finds success, so he can propose to a rich woman. However, Malin was very embarrassed about his very miserable past.

One time, Malin went home and took his wife to his hometown. Malin's mother, who has been left behind for a long time, is happy to find her son back home. However, with high prestige, Malin pretended not to know his mother, so as not to be downgraded in front of his wife. The reason is, Malin's mother looks ragged, and very miserable.

Malin's mother was very sad, and prayed to God Almighty, so that Malin would be punished for his disobedient attitude. Malin's mother's prayer was answered, and Malin was then cursed to become a stone. This story teaches us to always respect and obey our parents, especially to a mother.

Cerita Rakyat La Moelu

 This short Javanese folk tale tells of a girl who was given the task by her father to take care of the small and strange fish that her father caught while fishing. The girl's name is La Moelu, just like the title of this folk tale.

La Moelu then released the fish, named Jinnade, into the sea. La Mooelu advised the fish, when he called his name, Jinnade had to go straight to the surface, because it would be fed. However, her greedy neighbor calls Jinnade and catches her to serve as a side dish. La Moelu who knew this was sad.

Then La Moelu buried Jinnade's thorns and bones. Over time, from Jinnade's bones, a golden tree grew that could be used for the good of La Moelu, who also had a very kind attitude and heart.

Sangkuriang

 Next is the folklore of Sangkuriang, this story is the folklore of the Tangkuban Perahu, which contains the story of how the Tangkuban Perahu boat was created. It is a folk tale from West Java. The story begins when a woman named Dayang Sumbi has a child named Sangkuriang.

Unbeknownst to their son, they both have a dog named Tumang. The dog is the incarnation of Sangkurian's father or the husband of Dayang Sumbi. Dayang Sumbi asked Sangkuriang to get Dayang Sumbi's thread that was left behind, when Sangkuriang returned alone, not with Tumang. It turns out that Tumang was abandoned by Sangkuriang on purpose. Hearing this Dayang Sumbi was furious and threw Sangkuriang out.

This West Javanese folklore continues when Sangkuriang wanders alone leaving his hometown, and forgets everything, including about his mother. After many years, Sangkuriang returned to his hometown and did not recognize anything, including his mother. He also fell in love with Dayang Sumbi and did not know that Dayang Sumbi was his mother.

Dayang Sumbi did not even know that Sangkuriang was her son. Sangkuriang also proposed to Dayang Sumbi, Dayang Sumbi accepted. Until one day, Dayang Sumbi found out that Sangkuriang was her son and tried to annul the marriage. Sangkuriang went berserk and kicked the canoe or boat, so that later the boat formed a mountain which is now known as Mount Tangkuban Perahu.

Rawa Pening

 The following is a folk tale of Rawa Pening, which is the origin of the formation of the Rawa Pening area. It is said that a woman named Endang gave birth to a large dragon named Baru Klinting. Baru Klinting is a dragon who can talk like a normal human.

Once upon a time, people were looking for a suitable animal to serve as a party meal. The community also wanted to make Baru Klinting a meal, in the midst of Baru Klinting's activities who were imprisoned, Baru Klinting turned into a little boy and found out about the people's progress. The little boy was hungry and asked for food, no one wanted to feed except an old grandmother.

The old grandmother was given a message to take a mortar when she heard a big roar. Not long, a rumbling sound was heard and water emerged from the ground and drowned all the people in the village who were partying. Except for the kind grandmother. From that point on, the area was named Rawa Pening.
